I took a walk today, even though the internet said the sun would set at 8:14 and I left my house at 8:07. I walked anyways.
It was the first day in over a week that I omitted makeup, and it felt great to touch my face and enjoy life’s natural sheen.
The music from my earbuds really set the tone…Youth Lagoon mixed with the screeching of cicadas while you’re walking in the dim light of a setting sun.
Walking really beats running; there’s no rush, no pace to maintain. You can take your sweet time.
As I walked, I listened to music, and I reflected on life, and I thought about everything I saw. I turned onto streets I normally walked past, and I saw a house with a light blue door. The sidewalk stopped at some point, and I couldn’t figure out why. But does there have to be a reason?
Trees were planted with pinestraw arranged in a neat circle around the trunk; why? Why not squares, why circles? And why so many so randomly planted all over someone’s yard? I half-expect Pocahontas to be peering out from behind one.
