marshmello adds fuel to the fire, releases Diplo & Friends Guest Mix

There’s a lot of buzz in the EDM community about mystery newcomer marshmello. There were rumors that the anonymous producer was actually Skrillex trying out a new sound, then people were saying that it was actually the artist Dotcom. There’s still no official word out on this issue at the moment, but the important thing to focus on is that marshmello just released an hour-long mix on Diplo & Friends!

I first fell in love with marshmello’s music when I heard the song “summer”, which quickly became one of my favorite songs of all time:

He seemed to really gain traction with other EDM lovers when he released a remix of the popular Jack Ü song, “Where Are Ü Now, ft. Justin Bieber”:

His appearance on Diplo & Friends has yielded an hour long mix that has surely made its way onto my list of favorite mixes, ever. He pulls in a handful of amazing remixes from similar artists, like Wave Racer, Lido and Flume. All comparisons to potential secret EDM artist identities aside, marshmello’s style is just like his namesake, soft and sweet. But its heart-racing drops and groovy synths keep listeners enthused.

Have a listen:

A full tracklist is available in the mix description, but some of my favorite tracks from the list include:
Wave Racer – Streamers
Foster The People – Best Friend (Wave Racer Remix)
Grizzly Bear – Will Calls (Diplo Remix)
S -Type – Billboard (Lido Remix)
SBTRKT – Wildfire (OVO Remix) [feat. Drake]
Hermitude – HyperParadise (Flume Remix)
Jack Ü ft. Justin Bieber – Where Are Ü Now (marshmello remix)
Black Coast ft. M. Maggie – Trndsttr (Lucian Remix)
What So Not – The Quack (WSN Club Dub)
Jack Ü ft. Kai – Mind

If you’re interested in the backstory of marshmello’s quick rise to exposure, be sure to check out this article from EDM.com.

Basically, since joining Soundcloud roughly four months ago, he’s gained over 65,000 followers and hundreds of thousands of plays after being reposted by some big names in EDM. His remixes of Zedd and Calvin Harris are widely considered to be better than the originals, and he’s taunting prying eyes with song titles like “WroNg” and “FinD Me” and “KnOw ME

I just happened upon your site by accident and I am blown away. Very creative. I must say that I don’t know much about anything you are talking about, but it’s going to be interesting to look at.
