Happy Dandelion Appreciation Day!
I declare May 23rd Dandelion Appreciation Day.
Not to be confused with National Weed Appreciation Day, which celebrates actual weeds and not marijuana.
What would childhood have been without dandelions? No wishes to make, seeds to watch float off, stalks to chew, little white specks to look for in a field?
Navin and I realized this today, and it’s a shame that it took a perfect day like today to realize it.
Other dandelion fun facts from National Day Calendar:
Do you remember as a small child the fun you had with dandelions? They actually serve many useful purposes. Dandelions are a food source for insects and certain birds. Humans eat young dandelion leaves and enjoy dandelion tea and dandelion wine. The Native Americans used dandelions to treat certain ailments. Nutritionally, dandelions contain a source of vitamin A and C, calcium, iron, and fiber.

My song choice Two Door Cinema Club…Something Good Can Work… I like to see the seeds of opportunity too :) No room for weeds in my garden.
