High school is just a gas station on the road trip of life, and I’m merely stopping through. I just don’t care about nearly as much as I used to, because my life here is temporary; I’m not going to be here for much longer anyways. There are so many things I want to redoContinue reading “Looking back on high school”

Lack of dialogue
Sitting in class, I hear the teach say do silent work; you can use headphones if you’d like. I pull them on and work silently for a few. But silence is curiosity suppressed and I look up.
The 5 worst pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten about high school
5. Do your homework I do most of my homework, but some days I look at my pile and all I see is busy work. Meaningless and tedious assignments designed to make it seem as though there’s some sense of order and authority bestowed by the teacher, but everyone sees through it.
My second semester senior bucket list
In prioritized order: 1. Go to a poetry slam 2. Perform in our school’s talent show – this I have put off for 7 semesters 3. Start exercising regularly 4. Run a marathon 5. Attend an EDM concert
Guest Post: Aporia
So quick backstory. This is Earth, about a thousand years later. We’ve averted the global warming crisis of 2032 and 2503, but because of this, Earth is now an inhabitable wasteland, save for its middle atmosphere, where humanity now lives. Having built a floating city using anti-gravity technology developed in 2380 when humanity tried toContinue reading “Guest Post: Aporia”
This Kid I Know: Mallika
My very first friend at the school I now attend is, was, and forever will be a short, adorable little Indian girl named Mallika. The first time we met, I mispronounced her name; that will remain a stain on my conscience until the end of time. She assigned to be my “buddy” (every new studentContinue reading “This Kid I Know: Mallika”
You are not alone: a monologue about college decisions
People are finding out about their colleges and on one hand, I am so happy for them. Tomorrow seems to beContinue reading “You are not alone: a monologue about college decisions”
Through the eyes of a first semester senior: the college process and more
My friends and I are counting down the days until the first semester of senior year ends, until we can officially declare ourselves “second semester seniors.” Maybe then, I’ll be able to go on a proper vacation, because I haven’t gone on one in a few years, unless you count exhausting debate tournaments or collegeContinue reading “Through the eyes of a first semester senior: the college process and more”
8 things I have to say about debate
A year ago, I wrote a post entitled “What It Means to Debate.” Looking back on what I had written, I still agree largely with what I had written. But alas, we are never stationary and that means that my opinion has changed, shifted, and accumulated much more knowledge and experience since when I lastContinue reading “8 things I have to say about debate”
Intense, like no other
Intense, like running a burned finger under cold tap water Intense, like debating for 3 days straight Intense, like the way you devote your life to something unconventional knowing there are so many reasons for which it could fail, but holding on because of the one reason it might work out Intense…is the way IContinue reading “Intense, like no other”
